Another great race completed. The Moab 12-hour race was the most grueling race the team has done so far. Kayak, Mountain Bike, Trek, Rappel, Navigation, all in a 12 hour challenge course that would kill most humans. The race started with 4-person teams starting at 0800 followed by solos at 0815 and finally our 2 person teams at 0830. The spectacular cliffs, arches and canyons surrounding the Moab area makes for arguably the most spectacular venue of all of the races in the series. This event seems to draw athletes like no other and Madness Adventure Racing was their to take charge.

The race started out with a 2.5 mile paddle to the orienteering course with 11 orienteering points. On to the 6 mile orienteering course on rough terrain and hard to locate orienteer points. Next the team transitioned into Kayak Gear again where they had to hit 5 specific paddling points over 8 miles. At the end of the paddle the team got a new map to follow where they had to plot 4 new points in the desert. The first point from the transition area was about 6 miles away. The course had lots of trekking up and down through creek beds until the canyoneering section of the race. Sunset was upon the course as the team had to make the long journey back to the starting point and finish.
